Thomas Bishop, born May 1886 at Merasheen to Ambrose Bishop, born 1864 at Isle Valen and Anastasia Viscount, born 1863 at Indian Harbour (married 1884). It’s possible that Anastasia was the sister of Caroline Viscount, Lucy Pitcher’s mother.
Tom’s wife Anastasia (Fulford), was born September 1884 at Bar Haven to parents John Fulford and Mary Careen and the sister of Dennis, Michael and Paddy who moved to the Island Cove from Bar Haven. Mary Careen may have been a Curran, possibly related to Dennis (Dinny) Curran. Anastasia was married first to a Kerrivan from Indian Harbour, had a daughter Mary (Mame) Kerrivan, born April 1903 at Indian Harbour. Mary (Mame) was married to Dougie Flynn, originally from Petit Forte. The Bishop children were Patrick, born Aug 1909; Aloysius, born May 1911; and Thomas, born Aug1920.
According to Jim Gardiner, Anastasia and Tommy lived by the Island Cove road where you make the right turnaround the hill going towards the cove. Mickey Cochrane lived in the house after the Bishop family moved out of there sometime in the 1930s with Patrick and Aloysius eventually settling in Dunville.
Patrick married Cecilia, born Placentia 1919 and Aloysius married Mary Ann, born Placentia 1909, both daughters of Thomas Collins of Red Island and Mary Ann Flynn. Patrick’s sons Patrick (1940) and James (1944) and Aloysius’s son Thomas (1942) would be second cousins to the families of Michael, John, Bill and other members of that generation of Fulfords.
