Catherine Hann's final resting place. The Hanns from Petite Forte sold the schooner in 1967 and after several owners, the Marystown Sea Cadets came into possession of the vessel. In the fall of 1968 the vessel was moored inside the Canning Bridge in Marystown when a November wind storm broke her moorings and she drifted ashore. She lay on her side in the beach where over the next several years she was slowly destroyed by the elements. The end of the MV Catherine Hann came in 1972 when the Marystown Fire Department, fearing for the safety of teenagers that frequented the deteriorating derelict, set fire to what remained of the vessel.
