We're Going Home
by Helen M. Best-Colgan
Refrain
We’re going home to Merasheen
To that Island with land so pristine
Where all our fathers lived a life serene
We’re going home to Merasheen
This Island rising upward in the middle of the Bay
Shaped and placed uniquely in a very special way
Welcoming all who enter that great Placentia Bay
To all our friends we’d like to say.
Refrain- We’re going home . . .
The waves, the birds and the fish greet us coming in
The wonders of the ocean, raise emotions deep within
The breezes, sprays and giant waves make the swaying boat swing
And all on board just start to sing.
Refrain- We’re going home . . .
We dream of all the beaches with treasures flowing in.
We dream of where our house once stood and the warmth within.
We dream of all the joy around from people everywhere
And most of all, we just want to be there.
Refrain- We’re going home . . .
The rocks they shine like silver glowing in the sun.
Brightening up all our hearts for a day of fun
There’s beauty all around us as we sail towards the shore
To embrace our friends who are the core.
Refrain- We’re going home . . .
