Merasheen Is the Place That I Call Home

by Judy (Pomroy) Mullaly

There's an island in Placentia Bay, her beauty melts my heart away
A place that holds no strangers, only friends
As a child I have sweet memories, the bond that’s created never leaves
Merasheen is the place that I call home

With family and friends gathered ‘round, to sing a song or 'plank er down'
There is no place in this world I'd rather be, surrounded by her hills and sea
This island means the world to me
Merasheen is the place that I call home

A cup of tea and homemade bread, a game of cards and it's time for bed
These are the memories that I hold dear, the best sleep you’ll ever find
It's quiet and peaceful all the time
Merasheen is the place that I call home

When I have to leave and start to pack, her voice is beckoning me back
To climb her hills and walk her rugged shores, you can take your exotic trip
This is the only place I’d pick
Merasheen is the place that I call home
This island is a part of me, forever it will be

No matter where I walk or where I roam, I’ll always find my way back here
To the island I love dear
Merasheen is the place that I call home
Merasheen is the place
Merasheen is the place that I call home
