NO WATER POLO
Ron Best, Paddy Ennis (Little Merasheen), and I, were on Fergus Pomroy's wharf. Pad was, as most of us know, a big fellow in size. Ron and I were relatively small in comparison, though we were probably fourteen years old at the time. Ron and I tried, all in fun, to push Pad over the wharf. A longer broke and the three of us ended up in the water. Luckily it was high tide! Ron and I, not yet good swimmers and afraid of drowning, climbed up frantically on Pad's shoulders pushing him under several times. Pad was having a .hard time keeping his head above water and staying afloat. Fortunately, Mr. Gus Hepditch was on the wharf. He pulled in the skiff and with much effort rescued us. Paddy was a real hero. Thanks, Pad, you were stronger and braver than the two of us together!
