Angela Marie Ennis June 8, 1900
Daughter of Patrick Ennis and Ellen Frances McHugh
Angela Marie left home in September 1920 and entered the Sisters of St. Francis of Clinton, Iowa on September 25, 1920. (Clinton is a city on the Mississippi River in the diocese of Davenport in southeast Iowa). The reception ceremony was held on March 28, 1921. Sister then received the name Sister Mary Liguori. She received a white veil worn by the novices, a long black habit, a white cincture or cord to wear as a belt around her waist, and a fifteen decade Rosary worn on the left side, hanging from the cincture. Sister became a naturalized citizen of the United States on December 9, 1929.
The next big ceremony was on August 15, 1922 - Profession Day. Then sister took vows of poverty, chastity and obedience for one year; then renewed the vows each year until she made final vows, or life vows, on August 15, 1925, three years later. The silver jubilee - 25 years in the convent since first profession, was on August 15, 1947. The golden jubilee was on August 15, 1970 - 50 years in the convent as a Sister of St. Francis of Clinton, Iowa.
Angela passed on April 9, 1979 at age 78.
