“SHEENA” or Merasheen
by Gregory F. Russell
Cross the bay, boys, there my heart lies
On the hills above the bottoms.
Where the soft night brings the warm light
To my home on Merasheen.
Refrain
Heave ‘er o’er, boys, Make her go boys
Keep her bow into the weather.
Make the spray fly from the waves high
Take me home, boys to Merasheen.
Through the weeks long comes the sweet song
From the Sheena on her collar.
‘Till there’s heartache for a sweet break
In my home on Merasheen
Refrain - Heave ‘er o’ver . . .
Queen of water, Neptune’s daughter
Sheena sails ‘way from Placentia.
Peeling sea spray as she makes way
To the Harbour in Merasheen.
Refrain - Heave ‘er o’ver . . .
I have tried boys, Far and wide boys
All the grand sights I have seen.
But the best boys o’er all the rest boys
Is my home on Merasheen.
Refrain - Heave ‘er o’ver . . .
